AMM Soft-Launch in the third ITAC Meeting (Jan 2009)

Edge Technology has launched its new AMM product during its participation in the third meeting of Information Technology Academia Collaboration (ITAC) fellowship program which was witnessed by Minister of Communication and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel together with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hani Helal.

AMM is the first regional product that is capable of Automatic Meter Reading and Management. It gives the power operators the ability to view current loads all over the country.

 It has a distinct feature of enabling time of use tariff (TOU), which is expected to start in Egypt by the end of 2009.

The system could save up to 50% of current power losses. This saving is important for both energy efficiency and reducing demand on power plants.

Power theft can be pinpointed and caught immediately by this system.

Expected saving of the system is ~900 Million EGP/year.

The system is the first stage of ET research towards Efficient Energy Systems, and Smart Grids.

The meeting was organized by Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the program initiator. It focused this year on boosting intellectual dialogue and discussing the joint research interests between IT companies and research centers and universities.
